In December, 2003, the Festival
sponsored the first ever Artisans’ Holiday Marketplace. Based
on the popular summer arts and craft show, this winter version was
held in conjunction with Marblehead’s Christmas Walk. Located
inside Abbot Hall, Artisans’ Holiday Marketplace featured over
twenty artisans; two local, nonprofit, organizations; and the works
of six local artists. The Festival operated its own table, which featured
the Festival Logo Store, with logo products from 2003 and prior years;
and a logo voting booth, where visitors could view the three finalist
designs and cast their votes for the official logo of the 2004 Marblehead
Festival of Arts.
Scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, December 6 and 7, an unusually
heavy snowstorm resulted in the closure of Abbot Hall on Sunday. Even
so, Artisans’ Holiday Marketplace got off to a successful start
