Ordinarily, the Logo Contest judges select three finalists. In 2003, the judges selected four finalists, and the general public then determined the winner by ballot. The winning logo, designed by Chad Macomber of Marblehead, made its debut at the Logo Premier and Volunteer Information Party at The Landing Restaurant on January 21.
Chad previously entered Festival art exhibits during his elementary, junior high, and senior high school years. As a college student, he exhibited in the Festival Photography and Drawing exhibits.
A recipient of the Marblehead Arts Association scholarship and the Wilhelmina Jackson scholarship, Chad designed the 2003 Festival logo while a senior at the Ringling School of Art and Design in Sarasota, Florida, where he was earning a degree in Fine Arts.
