Painting is a way for me to translate my own energy into a visual medium. Dreams and experiences feed into my work and I enjoy stepping back, and letting my subconscious do most of the creating. My most recent work continues to explore the human form. I am interested in the idea of the painted figure as a reflection of inner states, reflection, and change. I choose colors and textures that reflect changing emotional landscapes. As images begin to form, I allow them to inform the next part of the process. Painting is a dialogue between my feelings, the painting itself, and the viewer. Recently I have been expanding my painting onto other surfaces, such as vases, cutting boards, and flower pots. I enjoy moving between my paintings on canvas and painting on 3 dimensional objects. My inspiration for these pieces comes directly from nature. Like my paintings on canvas, I begin these pieces without a definite finished image in mind. I enjoy letting the pieces unfold naturally.
