Writers' World features a series of writing workshops; the Literary Arts Café; and a juried exhibit of original, unpublished works in Adult and Student divisions, in three categories:
- Fiction, limited to 2500 words
- Essays/Creative Nonfiction, limited to 1500 words
- Poetry, limited to 50 lines
Eligibility: Adults who reside, work, or belong to a writing group in Essex County; and students through Grade 12 who reside or attend a school in Essex County.
Number of Entries Allowed: Two (2) in each category
Entree Fees:
- Adult division: $10 each entry
- Student Division: No entry fees

Submission Guidelines:
- Entries must be submitted by e-mail to
The e-mail must include name, address, city, state, zip, phone, and e-mail address; indicate Adult or Student division; and indicate Fiction, Essay/Creative Non-Fiction, or Poetry.
- Names of authors must not appear on the entries. Word count must appear in upper-right corner. Each entry must be double-spaced
and titled. Files should be saved in DOC or .RTF format.
- The entry fees must be mailed the same day as the electronic submission, along with an entry form for each submission, sent to:

The entry fees must be paid by checks payable to Marblehead Festival of Arts.
- The Student competition has no entry fees but entry forms must be mailed in.
- The names of authors must not appear on entries.
- Fiction is limited to 2500 words, essay/creative nonfiction is limited to 1500 words, and poetry is limited to 50 lines.
- Entries not adhering to these guidelines may be disqualified.
- All accepted works will be displayed at the Literary Arts Café and Writers’ World Exhibit during the Festival and cannot be returned.
Writers World 2014: A Collection of Winning Entries
A limited number of copies of the this booklet will be printed and available for pickup at Writers' World. Copies may be reserved by pre-ordering them on the Writers' World Entry Form. The cost is $5.00 per copy.

Awards:
- In each category, ribbons are awarded for Best of Show, Outstanding Work, and Honorable Mention.
- In the Adult division only, in each category, $125 is awarded for Best of Show.
- One poem will be selected to receive the Marcia Doehner Award.
- One play or prose may be selected to receive the Georgette Beck Award.
