2007 Senior Student Art Scholarship

The Art Scholarship Committee is pleased to award this year’s Marblehead Festival of Arts Scholarship to Elisha Musgraves of Marblehead. Her areas of interest and accomplishments are in Writing and Theatre. She has been recognized for her artistic talents and her leadership initiative. Elisha was a founding member of the Marblehead High School Chapter of the National Art Honor Society and also the North Shore Chapter of the Friendship Circle, a mentoring program for children with disabilities.
During the past four years, she has acted in numerous productions by Marblehead High School, Marblehead Little Theater, Theater of Light, and Rebel Shakespeare. She has been a finalist in the Regional Shakespeare Monologue Competition and was one of the top ten Shakespeare performers in Massachusetts in 2007.
Elisha also has been recognized by the Marblehead Festival of Arts Writers’ World Competition and by a Marblehead High School literary journal. An essay she wrote was published in The Apprentice Writer, a publication of Susquehanna University. It was one of 70 essays chosen from a field of 5,000 entries.
In addition to her numerous awards and honors in the arts, Elisha has worked throughout high school and volunteered her time tutoring middle school students. This Fall, she will attend Bennington College in Vermont. She says she was drawn to Bennington because the school “focuses on the individual accomplishments and character of an applicant and is a place for independent education and artistic expression.” Her varied gifts are a perfect fit for this unique learning experience.
