In the Logo 2004 Contest,
the judges reviewed the many entries and selected three finalists.
Two logos were designed by George W.E. Price, a professional
graphic designer who previously won the Logo 2001 Contest. The
third finalist design was submitted by Andrea Noble, a sophomore
at Marblehead High School. |

The Marblehead
Festival of Arts has a new logo, and artist George Price has
another winning design. Every year, the Festival holds a contest
to select a new logo. A panel of judges select several finalists,
and the public determines the winner by ballot. This year,
the winning design was created by George Price.
Price, a graphic designer, has created cartoons, corporate
image campaigns, illustrated books, book jackets, and packaging
and promotional campaigns for clients such as Coca Cola, Copy
Cop, Star Market, Prince Spaghetti, Gillette, and Kodak. His
numerous awards include two Hatch Awards, five San Diego Society
of Communicating Arts Awards, and three Ad Gage Awards.
A member of the Marblehead Arts Association,
he is a long time fan of the Festival and the logo competition.
In fact, his entry in the 2001
Logo Contest also was a winner. Asked about his
inspiration for this year’s design, he said, “I've
always been impressed by the gorgeous visual of all those
boats that Marblehead entertains. That was the spark for the
winning logo and that essence is what I tried to capture.”
