Photography is a juried exhibit of original black-and-white and color photographs.

Samuel Chamberlain Award (SCA)
Samuel Chamberlain was an accomplished artist, teacher and author. He was gifted in lithography, etching, pencil drawing, drypoint, and photography; and he authored over 70 books, including his illustrated autobiography, Etched in Sunlight, published in 1968. In the early 1920s, after having studied architecture at MIT, he found his artistic home in the graphic arts, which brought him numerous prizes and awards, both here and in Europe. In the late 1930’s, he took up photography and published a series of books on early American architecture and furniture. The Samuel Chamberlain Memorial Award, established by Reporter Publishing Company and Forumgraphics, was given during the 1975 Festival of Arts and is now awarded annually as part of the Photography Exhibit.

Photojournalism Award (PJA)
The Photojournalism Award is awarded to a photographer for an image with informative content and emotional impact including human interest, documentary, or spot news. The journalistic value as well as the pictorial quality is considered.

Judges

Francine Zaslow is a Boston-based photographer with a unique approach to still-life photography. Whether in the studio or on location, Francine is best known for bringing a fresh perspective to each and every photograph, blending the subject matter and her sensitivity to lighting and composition to make sometimes ordinary objects appear extraordinary. For over a decade, Francine has been running her own successful and evolving photography studio. When not shooting at her Boston studio, Francine likes to spend time with her family and friends at her house on Martha’s Vineyard. Jacob Mosser III of North Reading, Massachusetts, is an accomplished photographer who has been awarded the honors of Fellowship in the Photographic Society of America and Honorary Member in the New England Camera Club Council. He has judged and lectured on photography throughout the Northeast and for various photographic organizations in the United States and Canada. He is the Vice-Chairman of The Massachusetts Camera Naturalists, a past Chairman of the Photographic Society of America's Nature Division, and a life member of and a past of President the Greater Lynn Photographic Association. As an international exhibitor, he has achieved a galaxy in color slides and both a photonaturalist and galaxy-2 rating in nature. He has twice been the recipient of the prestigious Eastman Kodak, Charles A. Kinsley Memorial Trophy. His work appears in assorted publications and calendars.

Ron DiRito holds the positions of Associate Professor and Photography Department Chair at Montserrat College of Art. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Metropolitan State College and a Master of Fine Arts from the Rhode Island School of Design. A former freelance photographer for various newspapers, magazines, and photo agencies, his photographs have appeared in periodicals around the world, including Time, Newsweek, Vanity Fair, L'Espresso, Paris Match, and The World & I. In 1995 he received a NEFA/NEA Regional Fellowship in Photography. His work is exhibited nationally and is held in public and private collections.
