The Marblehead Festival of Arts wishes to congratulate photographer, June Rhodes on the selection of her image for the cover of the channel CBS4 2006 Weather Almanac. This award-winning photograph of a sunrise behind Marblehead Light, which will represent “summer” in a four-season collage on the Almanac cover, was also selected for display in the 2005 Marblehead Festival of Arts Photography Exhibit held last July 4th weekend.
As an avid photographer for many years, June Rhodes has a passion for sunrises and sunsets as her subject matter. Taken in September 2004, this photograph features an intense red coloration in the sky, a product of a morning rainstorm that contributed uniquely to this artistic shot. In spite of her lack of formal training in photography, Rhodes has successfully applied for inclusion in the Marblehead Festival of Arts Photography Exhibit the last two years. She is a former member of the Greater Lynn Camera Club and was honored with a “Portrait of the Year” award in the mid-1980’s.
The CBS4 weather team compiles this Weather Almanac annually and it is the only Boston publication that specifically focuses on how the weather impacts life in southern New England. With 25,000 copies of the Almanac published each year, CBS4 makes them available free-of-charge to educators and educational organizations to use in their fund-raising efforts.
