Low Key Confusion
Roots Rock
Low Key Confusion is a jazz and blues-folk trio originally hailing from the
Shoreline of Connecticut. LKC has gained fans by playing a wide variety of covers
that span across the decades from artists like Feist, Adele, Susan Tedeschi, and Van Morrison at small clubs and private events. The band has recently developed their sound as a three-piece after moving to Boston, with their drummer, Tim Galvin still in Connecticut. Lead singer, Kelsey Crawford’s soulful delivery blends nicely with the two other members: guitarist, Charles Gargano and bassist, Cord West with layered, swelling, three part harmonies. They are currently playing at local Boston clubs and open mic nights and recording their debut E.P to be released this summer.

Yesberger Band
Jazz
Like a palm tree in a Russian winter, The Yesberger Band is bringing their shine to the music scene, inspiring audiences one by one with their jazzy approach to poetry and pop. Berklee College students Devon Yesberger, Spencer Stewart on bass and Gabriel Smith on drums deliver their unique musical vision, earthly in its ideals and thick with dance-ability, which has taken them cross-country as well as internationally with opportunities to work with acts including Bobby McFerrin, Jamie Cullum, The Temptations, and The Yellowjackets along the way.
Fascinated by the world, Devon Yesberger writes songs that channel joy and light-heartedness, spinning the usual themes of life and love into unique sonic worlds with unusual interpretations. On stage, positivity comes to life with a presence that is unmatched by most young musicians, and is evidence of a strong passion for music, as well as a deep friendship between the performers and audience. This is a band that will groove you and move you, so be sure not to miss their unforgettable live experience.

Trick Taylor
Alt-Folk
Jim Trick and Rachel Taylor
Rachel Taylor is a Marblehead based performing songwriter who spent just enough time at Berklee College to make her dangerous and just enough time on the road to make her strong. With 11 albums to her credit Taylor is a gifted singer-songwriter whose music touches a wide variety of genres from Jazz to Folk and from Country to Pop.
Rachel Taylor
Jim Trick has been performing professionally for over twenty years, melding his original brand of alt-folk / solo acoustic rock with motivational life lessons taught and sung at retreats all over the country. Jim's concert appearances are intimate and with disarming humor and transparency he is able to instantly connect with his audience. Jim has released four solo albums to date and his music has been featured in both advertising campaigns for USA Inet and Graham Suorsa’s award winning independent film, Conscientious Objections.
Jim Trick
Together, Trick Taylor uniquely blends indie, alternative folk with hints of alt country and thoughtful pop drawing listeners in from several directions. As performing songwriters Jim Trick and Rachel Taylor had been close friends for over a decade before they discovered their creative chemistry together. Trick Taylor’s live show is transparent and magnetic in a way that allows audience members to catch a glimpse into not only their catalog of songs but into their friendship as well.

Mark Erelli
Folk-Rock/Country/Swing/Bluegrass

Tonight we open the 47th Festival with one of our favorite songwriters Mark Erelli…A lot of ink has been spilled trying to define Erelli. The "hardest-working man in folk business" has been labeled everything from the "male counterpart to Neko Case" to a "Transcendalist John Hiatt." But somehow none of the tags do him justice. Maybe this is because over the course of a dozen records and side projects, Erelli has delved into folk-rock, western swing, protest songs, lullabies, murder ballads and, most recently, bluegrass, with the knack for making them all sound like his musical wheelhouse. Or maybe it is because he is also an in-demand multi-instrumentalist sideman, who has backed up everyone from Lori McKenna at the Grand Ole Opry to Josh Ritter at the Royal Albert Hall. Or perhaps the labels fail because none of those other songwriters could tell you a bit about every creepy crawly bug and salamander hiding under a log in the New England woods (Erelli has a graduate degree in Organismic and Evolutionary Biology). However you describe Mark Erelli and his music, he brings the same palette of musical integrity and emotional honesty to whatever he happens to be singing or playing. Joining Mark tonight are Zack Hickman on bass and Charlie Rose on all the rest...
The first thing you notice about upright bassist Zack Hickman is the mustache. It is an exquisitely waxed handlebar beauty, tamed with his very-own homemade mustache wax. Against the well-tailored backdrop of one of his many vintage western suits, it lends him the air of some strange combination of a circus ringmaster and surrealist painter Salvador Dali. Then he takes the stage, and the comparison holds--when Hickman plays the bass, he makes tigers jump through flaming hoops and clocks melt. A long-time member of Josh Ritter's Royal City Band, Zack Hickman produced Mark Erelli's two most recent solo records.
Charlie Rose, multi-instrumentalist extraordinaire, wields his "awe-shucks" Midwestern charm like a secret weapon. He's so humble and down-to-earth, that fellow musicians somehow aren't frightened off once they realize that he plays every instrument they do, better than they do...plus a few more. Rose knows the notes in between all the other notes, and finds a way to present every instrument he plays (pedal steel, banjo, cello, etc.) in a new light. In recent years, Charlie Rose has toured and recorded with Jonathan Edwards, members of indie-folk "it" band The Low Anthem, as well as Johnny Irion and Sarah Lee Guthrie (Woody's granddaughter).
