Alanna Manning with Dave Mattacks Trio
Jazz
Dave Mattacks
Tonight we open the 46th Festival Performing Arts Program with four standout musicians delivering jazz tunes, the way we love it. Classy, Sultry, Sassy, Smokey Hot and always In The Pocket. Get ready to be taken away on a wave of cool...
What is Jazz?” they asked Louis Armstrong…his response… “Man, if you gotta’ ask, you’ll never know”…..Well, we’re going to help you know as we present Alanna Manning with the Dave Mattacks Trio. Vocalist Alanna Manning performs jazz standards throughout venues in New England with many of the area’s most renowned jazz musicians. Whether performing a sultry ballad or just swinging, she brings her unique voice and style to each note and lyric. Thomas Hebb is one of Boston's “first call for the gig” bassists. Thomas has performed internationally, including tours of Europe, Asia, and the Caribbean. His diverse career covers a spectrum of performances and artists from B.B.King, Martha and the Vandellas, Jimmy Buffett, Robert Palmer to Kenny Drew Jr., Dick Hyman, and Herb Pomeroy. Ferdinando Argenti is a Boston-based pianist / vocalist /composer / arranger who was born and raised in Pisa, Italy. He has played with greats like Chet Baker, Lee Konitz, Kenny Wheeler, Greg Hopkins & Herb Pomeroy among others. "Ferdi"- as friends call him - leads his own jazz trio and an 8 piece band, and when he's not playing jazz, he’s performing classic Italian pop music. Dave Mattacks is an English musician & now adopted Marbleheader who has played with a staggering list of artists (just google him…you’ll be amazed). “DM,” as he is known, continues to be the Festival’s “House Drummer." It’s always a master class when DM performs and we’re thrilled our friend is back with us again.
