Afternoon: Local Artists Showcase
Every afternoon —Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday—the Performing Arts Committee will showcase local artists on the big stage at Crocker Park. We encourage you to stop by to support these artists who are performing for the show and (certainly) not for the bucks!
Noon – 1:00pm
Undecided Youth—Rock
Undecided Youth was formed by a few Marblehead 6th graders in 2004 in
order to compete in the Village School talent show. Since then, the 7th
graders, Cam Pelkey, drums/vocals; Greg Worth, guitar/vocals; and Katie
Harvey, bass/vocals, have been inseparable. In addition to playing songs
by the Clash, Ramones and Green Day, they continue to write and perform
their own original music and have played many gigs throughout the area.
These events include the Marblehead Veterans Middle School talent show,
their TGIF school dances, the YMCA Battle of the Bands, the Boston Street
Café in Lynn, and the Mass College of Art in Boston. One thing that can
be guaranteed, you'll have as much fun watching them as they have playing

Angela Masciale—Folk
Angela Masciale is a long time friend of the Festival as our Performing Arts “Collection Queen” and has been singing all her life. As a child/adolescent, she was on TV, in musicals, and in festivals. As a teenager, she sang in a folk-rock band that played in venues on Long Island, NY. She has written poetry since age eleven, and started writing songs at sixteen. As an adolescent, she had six months formal voice training with Linda Zanti, a known opera star in Manhattan, and five years' piano lessons. She picked up basic guitar on her own, playing on and off during her teenage years, and into her twenties.
Over the past five years, Angela has seriously reentered the music world as a performer. The reentry was catalyzed by her stepson, Adam Zampino, collaborating with her musically. In January of 2000, she released her first CD, Time Will Tell. She wrote the music and lyrics to her songs, and plays acoustic guitar, singing throughout. Adam Zampino produced the CD and accompanies her on most of the songs on piano, keyboard or guitar.
Angela is the founder and host of the King Hooper Café in Marblehead, MA. Her work as a psychiatric nurse clinical specialist continues to provide much inspiration for her songwriting. Angela's second CD, Ancient Voices, was released in September of 2004. Angela is a member of ASCAP and a performing member of Indiegrrl, the largest networking music organization featuring independent women singer-songwriters and businesses that support them with over 1600 members and a worldwide audience. Today she’ll perform with Adam on keyboard, Michelle Zampino on vocals, and Mike Delaney on mandolin.

Vein—Alternative, Progressive Rock
Vein is Bob Kerr on guitar & vocals, James Christo on lead guitar, Randall Hopkins on bass and Cliff Goodman on drums. Formed in 1997 in Salem, Massachusetts, the band plays unique originals with a sound all their own. Bob Kerr and James Christo have played music together for many years. Vein is fueled by a connection that blends a musical chemistry of rock and soulful sounds. Check out Vein as they make our holiday afternoon one smooth rockin’ roll.

Brian Rolland—Brazilian Jazz
Brian Rolland, Bob Weiner, and John Lockwood
Brian Rolland is a long time friend of the Festival and one of the truly nicest gentlemen you’ll find in the industry. It is a rare opportunity when one discovers something in sound and immediately knows to listen carefully. There is that magic in Brian Rolland's unique compositions and exceptional guitar style. Rolland’s music is rooted in a lifetime of study and subsequent mastery of the classical instrument. This mastery flows innately through the lyrical masses we know as folk, country, rock, blues, and with outstanding finesse travels though the progressional phases of Jazz. "Brian Rolland is a musical revelation, one of the most eclectic guitarists I've heard." says Ron Della Chiesa of WGBH Radio. Brian will perform with a band of instrumental masters including Dave Mattacks on drums, John Lockwood on upright bass and Bob Weiner on percussion. Rolland’s newest CD, Dreams of Brazil, is currently climbing up the New Age Reporter charts and will be available on sale at the show. The Soul Band—Heart Poundin’, Foot Stompin’, Hard Drivin’ Soulful R&B!
The Soul Band is made up of some of the Boston area's most renowned musicians, including “Monster” Mike Welch on guitar, Brad Hallen on bass, Tim Pike on vocals, Scott Aruda on trumpet, Ken Clark on the Hammond B-3 organ, Steve Chaggaris on drums and percussion, and John Aruda on saxaphone. This great band plays an awesome variety of 60s & 70s southern soul music that will pick you up and get you MOVIN’! Drawing from an arsenal of well known classics to virtually unknown B-side gems, this band has been wowing audiences all over New England. With the spotlight on The Songs and The Group, T.S.B. delivers a formidable jolt of electricity that leaves audiences drenched with sweat and full of Soul Power!
There’s a huge "buzz" around this band on the Boston scene. Don’t just take our word for it, local R&B legend and former J.Geils Front man Peter Wolf exclaims, “This is a great band!” Steve Morse of The Boston Globe says singer Tim Pike has a stunning ability to recreate the heyday of Memphis's Stax/Volt label sound. The band’s new CD, entitled CERTIFIED, is so hot, you have to wear asbestos gloves to put it on your CD player! Fortunately, they’ll have plenty available at Crocker (gloves sold separately) so you can take home your piece of this great band.
