During her birthday party, seven year old Sadie encounters a difficult truth about the relationship between humans and their fellow creatures and sets out to give an equal chance to the weaker partners. North Carolina-based Todd Tinkham’s film has been shown in many film festivals and won a Best Cinematography prize at the second Kent (Connecticut) Film Festival.

Hard Cell is proof that old technology sometimes works better than the new. Originally from Beverly, Carl Hansen is a filmmaker who now works in Los Angeles as a freelance producer for television programs which include, most recently, Comedy Central.

In this dramatic film, a young girl is torn between responsibility for caring for (and understanding) her severely disabled mother and her intimate connection with her assertive boyfriend. Leah Meyerhoff is a filmmaker living in New York. Twitch won second prize for Best Narrative at the 2005 Slamdance Film Festival. Note: This film contains scenes of intimate behavior.

A couple is selling their house, but it has some unusual features.  Despite the dismal housing market, they are able to attract a stream of buyers, at least for a first look. Nevertheless, it takes a unique family to make this house a home. Steve Stuart is a prize-winning Beverly filmmaker who has been acting, producing, and directing for nearly twenty years.

A lonely widower encounters a “bolero” (a colloquial Mexican term for a shoeshine man) who provides him with more than a shine to his shoes. El Bolero was featured as part of the Boston International Film Festival in Boston on June 12; and it was shown at the Brattle Theatre in February as part of a program of the most innovative works created by Boston area filmmakers.

A late night cable television ad for one of those devices you never thought you’d need…you’ll go home wishing you had one for your very own. Kevin Anderton is a prolific and inventive Boston area maker of short comedies.
